Foggia Calcio
Division 5:15, Final League

Foggia getting busy in silly season
Foggia Calcio manager Giacomo Bianchi sat down for an interview to discuss his short time with the club and his ambitions for the future.

Bianchi took over the team that was formerly known as Aguilera FC and they had comfortably won the Division 6:39 title. Despite the triumph, he is eager to improve the squad and make it better for Division 5.

Interviewer: How have you found this job so far?

Bianchi: It has been great so far. I have taken over a winning team and we have the resources to do better.

Interviewer: What attracted you to this job?

Bianchi: My maternal grandparents came from San Marco in Lamis, which is in the province of Foggia. I was inspired by the team of the 1990s that made it into Serie A and played beautiful football under Zdenek Zeman.

Interviewer: Do you intend to implement that philosophy in XpertEleven?

Bianchi: Of course. I believe proactive football elevates the quality of the squad whereas conservative football holds players back.

Interview: The former Argentina and Barcelona coach Cesar Luis Menotti passed away recently. It seems that your ideals aligned with his.

Bianchi: Not quite. He lumped football into political categories, which is not my thing. I wouldn't interpret conservative football as right-wing football and progressive football as left-wing football. If anything, defensive football is totalitarian and restrictive whereas attacking football is democratic and gives footballers some freedom to express themselves. However, Menotti's legacy cannot be taken away from him. When Argentina played defensive football, he won a league title with Huracan and won the World Cup with Argentina playing attacking football. Defensive football is a quick fix. My Foggia aims to build something sustainable.

Interviewer: It seems that you still have a few more players to purchase.

Bianchi: Some will come, some will be sacked. Unfortunately, some players aren't good enough to take the next step. We need to be a courageous side that looks to better itself.
