Economic Girlymen moved to within one win of officially clinching the title with a 3-0 win at 2 girls 1 schlupp.
The visitors were in total control from the opening whistle, and it was little surprise when Gregório Bastinhas turned in Antunes Graixas' incisive pass after just nine minutes to open the scoring. Harry Kane then slotted home Pontus Jacobi's pass to finish off a flowing move for 2-0 on 28 minutes, before adding his second just five minutes later by firing home after being picked out by Jacobi's corner.
The Girlymen now hold a ten point lead at the top of Division 6:26, with just four matches remaining. A win over bottom-placed Pink Panthers will secure the title for the League leaders. Despite this, manager Pacific Panache has hinted at changes to his squad for next season:
"We have a couple of guys retiring, and we want to make room for more young players. It won't be a massive rebuild - I've already brought in some new players for this season, but I will be tweaking things just a little. My ultimate goal is to win the Dream League with this club."
Panache again refused to comment on speculation in the Murwillumbah Irrigator that he was looking for another job, simply saying, "power to the Ecomomic Girlymen!!!"
