Girlymen just wanna have fun
Economic Girlymen increased their lead in Divsion 6:26 with a comfortable 5-2 in over Union Deportiva. Defender Veli Lehtinen opened the scoring with a wicked free kick on 29 minutes, but Fermando Piaza levelled for Union from close range just six minutes later to set up what looked like a thrilling contest. Alas for the visitors, the second half would be anything but competitive.
Lehtinen curled home his second from a dead ball on 54 minutes, and Pontus Jacobi made it 3-1 in the 67th minute from close range after Lance Longhurst's incisive pass. Miron Bordei headed a dogged Union back into the contest in the 77th minute, but Brett Worsley's 84th minute header made the points safe. Worsley then turned provider two minutes later, firing in a low ball for Jacobi to tuck home his second. Manager Pacific Panache has told his players not to take their foot off the pedal.
"I know there's been some chopping and changing in the line up as we look for development, but my players have done pretty well so far. I don't want us to let up here. I want us to really put our foot on their throats and choke the life out the rest of our opponents. This club still has yet to atone for a poor showing in Division 6 last time around, and I want us to make sure that we're ready when the time comes."
The Girlymen travel to Sacramento FC for their next match.
