Win Maintains Minnows in 2nd Place
The Minnows welcomed 'Serpalia Lions' to 'The Pond' for our Round 10 encounter with us in 2nd place and them in 6th place. I chose to go with a cautious playing style and a five-man midfield with only 1 man up top against what should be on paper a tough side.

We made a slow start, but after five minutes we started to improve and Claus-Dieter Holzwarth hit the post with a strong header in the 13th minute. After 21 minutes, the team suffered a setback when Siegfried Buck was injured and he was substituted by Carmindo Dias. Captain Gerd Tiemann hit the crossbar with a header following a free-kick after the Buck injury. The substitution seemed to change something though and 'Serpalia Lions' finished the half the better team.

After the re-start, we again took control and had another couple of good chances including hitting the woodwork again in the 60th minute. Eventually, we did manage to find the back of the net with a close-range strike from Dennis Surmann assisted by Marcell Renken after 75 minutes. Almost immediately, we get a second with Günther Schirmer scoring from a corner by Carmindo Dias two minutes later. On 81 minutes, we made our second change with Pepe Zuca making way for James Kerr in the midfield. Our last change was made in the 87th minute with Maximilian Thon coming off to be replaced by Adolf Nissenbach.

After 4 minutes of injury time, we claimed our eighty win of the season and maintained our second place in the league. The only threat to our play-off spot is 'Liverpool F.C.' who are a point behind us in third.
