FK Radnik Roystjina

FK Radnik Roystjina's hopes of a first win, or at least point, of the season were undermined by inflexible substitution instructions laid out before the game.

With players on the bench in need of playing time, Radnik boss Janik opted to sub any player who picked up a minor knock and was therefore reduced in his ability to contribute. The four outfield subs, whilst lower rated than most who started the game would not have presented too substantial a drop in ability if they had been thrown on. The same wasn't true of the Roystjina goalkeepers, and unfortunately for Radnik it was there where a minor injury occurred midway through the first half.

Radnik had looked in a decent position in the match up until Stergios Pitsos was forced off, but once he had been replaced by young back-up Cvetomir Zakov nervousness ran through the visiting defence. Black Lotus found the target with their first opening of the game, and though this was disallowed it further diminished the confidence of the visiting defence in the man behind them. Their worries were born out when Lotus had another chances 7 minutes from time, which they finished for the winner.

Janik commented, "the goalie situation was not ideal, but if we had scored once or twice ourselves it would not have mattered so much. So that is where we need to concentrate, not on managerial choices. If you don't score you don't win, that is a fairly simple proposition. We stopped looking likely to score with a long time left in the game."
