X11 can be a cruel old game.
Sometimes people just see the results and not all the hard work put in by the players, staff and supporters in trying to achieve your goals over a long term project. They don't see the bleeding feet, lack of sleep, strict diets and a disciplined way of life that is needed to try to be the best of the best, something that few teams will ever even attempt to achieve. At Gentlemen's Practice there is a set up of management and players who have been together for close to nine seasons most of which from the tender age of seventeen. Phoenix has inbuilt into them that they are good enough to go all the way and has developed them accordingly and luckily they have time on their side to still maybe go on and achieve their dream of playing in the Xpert International; although you'd do well not to mention that to them at the moment after seeing their league standing slip from 1st to 3rd in the space of a week after losing their last two games both in incredibly harsh circumstances...

Phoenix: "It's absolutely devastating. I'm gutted for the lads who have worked so hard to get so close to going straight up to Division 1 and then to see a crazy result last week scupper that. Today's game against Beards was always going to be an uphill task. they're one of the best teams in Xpert International and how they have done in the cup only proves that but to go there and comprehensively out shoot them in their own back yard shows the determination from the lads. On another day one of those goes in and they don't score with their first shot at goal but when the X11 gods don't look down on you they don't look down on you. Maybe they will next year...

For now we need to re-group, train and re-focus and make sure it counts this next season. We'd like to congratulate Lazzie and Beards United who were worthy winners and wish Magpie Marvels all the luck in the world in their play off match, GP will be rooting for you."
