Round 2: What goes around comes around.. |
Round 2 of season 47 picked up where Round 1 left off with another salvo of fantastic games across the board. We've yet to see a draw in the first 8 games despite coming very close!
Game of the round took place at the Redding Rovers Arena in which the Rovers fell to defeat against the increasingly strong Old Spotted Dogs. 2-1 down at half time, the Dogs worked their tails off and were able to win the game with a last minute header. Fate decided that the Rovers needed to taste the bitterness of their own medicine, with OSD scoring in exactly the same manner and at exactly the same time that RR did last week, to produce an identical 3 points for the away side. If you didn't believe in the power of the footballing gods before today, then you better start praying...
Elsewhere, FC YHC recovered from their shock loss last week to produce a powerful performance against struggling Real Beton. Manager Irving94 produced a tactical masterclass, dominating both chances and possession. In other FC YHC related news, Bucks Revolution manager Murton was disturbed to discover that the team harbours a 22 year old with a skill of 13. It's understood the manager gasped and asked what YHC were feeding the kid, and if he was worth more than the entire Revolution squad put together...
Speaking of Bucks Revolution, their game against Bureå IF was as tight as expected. Both teams thought long and hard about their tactics but it was the Revolution who gained the upper hand, tightening the midfield to prevent IF from creating any chances. Although their finishing wasn't up to scratch BR were happy to take the 1-0 win courtesy of a late Radek Hola strike in the 85th minute. A perfect record with no goals conceded is exactly the start Murton wanted for his men.
To finish, Dunhill Resurrection aptly rose like a pheonix from the ashes to clinch a win away at kulmenframöralltroligt. Presumably still perplexed at how to spell and pronounce their name, the home team were unable to capitalise on their 2 chances and Dunhill only needed one just after half time to get the 3 points. A game of very few chances but captivating nonetheless.
Round 3 will be a real test for all teams as the league starts to take shape. Good luck to everyone!
