Team of the Month |
In the month of the 10 year anniversary of the manager on Xpert Eleven, the Merseyside Reds did the gaffer proud by picking up a few surprise victories which resulted in an even more surprising Team of the Month award. The Austrian manager came close once with Das Wunderteam back in the day, but the extra XCL matches for ShadowsDT's Whitsunday undid the good work playing for points in a more or less perfect month.
Right after the surprise title win the Liverpudlians gave Totaalvoetbal a 5-0 hiding at Anfield, but were pretty much without a chance against SL Nelas e Benfica in the cup today, which meant after the 5th round cup exit in the Ladies league a 5th round cup exit in the Pro League for the manager as well.
So what are the plans? Basically it was to just survive in the 2nd Division once again, but the Reds did incredible so far. With another three points at Totaalvoetbal on Monday survival could be more or less assured. Maybe a few players will be put on the transfer list, once again, or is it a promotion push? The manager dismisses all these rumours by saying that we are just playing around, trying to stay where we are while accumulating a team worthy of going to the top division.
Will the game still be there when the players are old enough? God only knows. One this is for certain, though, another 10 years for the Austrian manager would be one heck of a surprise, even for himself after deciding to cut down on teams. The other private league teams will follow in the next few months for sure.
