All downhill? |
Manager Hertz Van Rental cut a depressed figure on the touch line as his players trudged off the field. He had just witnessed another defeat. His players wasteful in front of goal, but letting in goals easily. It had a familiar ring to it, as he remembered his last few days as Shark Utd boss.
How frustrating those games were, where everything was planned right but goes so wrong on the pitch. It was one of the reasons why he was pleased to have escaped the pressure of the top flight. Found a nice little club, with a bit off history, tucked away in the depths of the Ultimate League.
Promotion last season had been a canter, players from was sky high, the team were developing great and Van Rental loved his job. Life was a beach, as the Brutez owner Sir Nelly mentioned.
Now the team found themselves in the midst of a relegation battle. The players were down, development values poor and every game was a stressful 90 minutes. Van Rental wondered if it was all worth it. He loved building a team from scratch, and desperately wanted the Brutez to do well again. But he also, loved winning, and the five defeats out of six, and with some pretty bad luck going against him, wondered if it was all worth the effort.
Perhaps he would apply fora big name job? A team ready build for success where he could get the winning feeling, and didn't have so much emotion to the team. He scanned the list of jobs available but nothing was there in the Ultimate league. Perhaps he would have to leave the Ultimate league once and for all?
Suddenly his phone rang. He didn't recognise the number but immediately recognised the voice that spoke to him. It was Sir Nelly "I see results aren't going our way. I've also heard rumours you are looking for a new job?"
Van Rental didn't know what to say. How did Sir Nelly know that, he had just thought about that himself. Did he have spies everywhere?
"Remember there are things in life that are sent to test us. The truth is that nothing worth having is ever easy, and all the best things in life are the result of pain. In the end, that's what makes the good things go very great, and that's what makes it all worth the struggle".
Van Rental was moved by Sir Nellys words "That is a great saying, I'm not sure where you heard the rumours from, I'm fully committed to the Brutez and getting them back where they belong. I realise there will be difficult moments but just have to live with them. This season has been a bit of a disaster but we can't win them all. We will bounce back stronger"
"That's more like it Hertz, and remember SAY IT LOUD, IM BRUTE AND PROUD!
