Dragon Evolution Continues (Part II) |
Back in March 2016, we released a press release entitled "Dragon Evolution" which made the Xpert Daily, where we outlined the club strategy of creating a "Dynasty" which involved bringing in young talents players and developing them to push on for success.
Having outlined our ideology back at the start of S38, in this press release we will take a look at the players that we brought in at the start of the "Evolution" and how we are continuing to evolve.
At the Start of the Evolution we signed 5 players and have had varying levels of success:
Sancho Uriz retired here as a 36 year old in S41. A real part of the development of some of the younger players and we can only send out of gratitude to the man as we expected back in the day "...way too good for this division, he will be a huge star for this club and we hope that some of the next generation pick up on his professionalism on and off the pitch."
Valter Diekmann, the big signing at the start for 5.2m and although we knew he was a talent we didn't see him developing as well as he has. Having played 54 times for the club is now valued at 15.1m but as one of the most talented young goalkeepers in the division we will not be cashing in on him.
Olafur Ragnarsson who joined for 1.8m, is now a serious part of the clubs first team plans. Representing the club a 58 times and has formed a great bond with Stefan Henze which is what wanted.
Kwang Yul Maeng, signed as a 19 year old for 1.5m was sold in S41 having developed into a fringe player for 4.1m. Kwang played 62 times for the club scoring 6 goals and making 12 assists. Unfortunately the claim of "leading the evolution" didn't come to pass and we had to go our separate ways.
The big success of the initial spending spree is Dean Ernsto, playing 61 times, creating 17 assists and scoring 10 times.
Since the Evolution started the club has had varying success with 3 promotions and 1 relegation in 4 seasons, but we still haven't got out of the 3rd round of the cup which is a disappointment. During the last 4 seasons we have brought in young players and started to open the purse strings; Rio Dozzell (21) for 9.0m, Gaucho Trenta (20) for 15.3m, Adam Klemm (16) from the academy and Stanilas Bertrand (16) for 6.0m. Following this seasons success we received 2.1m in prize money and now have over 30m in the bank going into S42. Focus now seems to be going on signing more experienced players. TheArcticBadger52 has said "...for the first time since the Evolution we now are set to start a season in Division 5 and we need to scatter some experience throughout the first team."
Evolution Part II
Niels Christian Carlsen (32) has been signed to give some additional depth in the midfield. Signed for only 5.7m, Niels at 16 skill is on paper the best player to ever play for the Aska Dragons. Niels now provides the seniority that Cees Paauwe and Dietmar Schwans deserve having had to lead a very young group.
Obdulio Vigos (32), will be the replacement for Sancho Uriz who has retired this year. This transfer is a big deal for the club as they have put 7.0m on the table for an injured player. Obdulio matches the club high of 16 skill and provides that extra security we will need in Division 5.
Armin Just (32) is the first choice centre forward the fans have been screaming out for. Costing 7.6m, Armin will provide the example to Gaucho Trenta who we want to develop and be the clubs leading striker in the future.
Pre season starts now.
