Well, after a very long wait for a youth player to come through the ranks, 32 days to be exact, Gago went to meet with DC Marvel Shadows about a potential talent the youth coach had spotted and suggested could be a good fit for the squad.
When Gago arrived to the meeting, all he could do was laugh and assume the meeting was a massive joke being played. All season long Gago had been wanting to add another midfielder to the team once the season ended in order to improve the depth of the midfield, but when the youth coach suggested Herbert Price Gago simply responded by firing the coach on the spot.
Gago explains:
"We are coming off a great season in which we won our final six league games, not conceding a single goal in the final five league games, and we moved from 4th place to 1st in the league to win the Division 4m title and reach Division 3 for only the second time in our history.
"When I went to speak with the youth coach I was excited about the possibility of another youth player coming through the ranks. However Herbert Price is nowhere near the player I am looking for. A 19/4 mid is well below par and has no place to be any where on the youth team, let alone on the senior squad.
"At first I thought it was a joke; but when I realized he was serious I had no other choice but to fire him if these are the kinds of players he deems worthy to play on the senior squad."
I guess the saying is true that if you want something done you have to do it yourself. After firing the youth coach, Gago went out to the transfer market and spent major cash on Samim Addo. The 21-year-old, 10-skilled midfielder joins the team to help bolster the depth in the midfield. As Addo is a hard trainer, Gago's more than happy to spend what he describes as "a great value" for what will hopefully be a young player with a very bright future.
