Promotion Stale Mate Summarises Season
0-0 away draw to promotion rivals Racing Armchair summed up a disappointing season for the Red Hawks who needed a victory to have any chance of qualifying with the possibility of a play off place available at minimum.
A first half missed penalty opportunity will haunt club star and defender Sixten Tillman over the silly season. Not the coolest of heads at the best of times and it showed when he needed to maintain his composure before blasting the club's chances straight at Derrick Bower (Racing Armchair's number 1).
However, Sixten shouldn't dwell too much on it as the club haven't done enough to warrant promotion on the attacking front and Sixten had done more enough throughout the season to assist in the club only conceding an incredible 8 goals in 14 games, picking up 7 clean sheets (50%)!! An incredible stat worthy of champions. This was reflected in manager Kevin Shumoogum's final interview for the season.
"I'm bitterly disappointed that we failed to win today. We didn't deserve it on the day but I'm disappointed because we haven't got that play off place which our defence, along with Sixten Tillman fully deserved for their brilliant achievement this season. It's a great strength of this side which I'll be hoping we carry on into next season and improve at the other end. We have something good here and maybe spending another season in this tier will do us better in the long run. I mean we have only just been relegated from the third division so this will help us, I'm sure, do better the next time we get there and yes we will get there! As for Racing Armchair, I wish them all the best in the play offs. They are a strong side and I expect them to progress."
