Déjà Vu |
Do you ever get Déjà Vu? This sequence of events has definitely happened before: I miss Training Day, subsequently forget to train my players at all and then run Out of Time to do any preparation for the start of the season whatsoever. It's something I've done all too often in the past and unfortunately this season is no different, an exact Carbon Copy.
It's perhaps no surprise then that the newly named Denzel Washington F.C (in honour of the Oscar winning actor and international sex symbol) were up against it in our first game of the season away to Sporting Disco Pants. Knowing the task we were faced with,The Siege started from minute one as we set out with a very defensive mentality and for a while at least the tactics looked to be working. The opening goal, however, was conceded in the 68th minute and after that the hosts were Unstoppable, we never even looked like scoring The Equalizer. Herculano Mundo was a Man on Fire grabbing two goals and a man of the match performance in an eventual 4-0 win for Steve73's side.
The result is perhaps a sign of things to come this season, we'll need to have a lot of Courage Under Fire if we're to have any chance of surviving in the division. I imagine the best case scenario would be finishing somewhere in the middle like Stoke City, Piggy or Malcolm. X 11 is a difficult game, if things are this tough in Division 4 I can only imagine what it's like in the top Flight. I certainly wouldn't suggest this site to anyone with a Heart Condition. With little prospect of challenging in the league perhaps we should concentrate on going for Glory in the cup. Who knows, with a bit of luck perhaps we could go all the way like The Magnificent Sevenman did last season.
Next up we face The Hairy Gingers and my old friend and occasional rival Michelep. Michele likes to pretend he is from Italy and can often be seen strutting around the streets of his hometown acting like some kind of Italian- American Gangster. The truth, though, is that he's as English as they come, highlighted by his constant mockery of all things Scottish (including myself). Just to piss him off I might channel my inner William Wallace and Cry "Freedom" before the match kicks off. Before I go any further on this topic I'd just like to reassure Michele that everything said in this press release is for comedic purposes, no offence is intended even if some of the remarks might seem quite close to The Bone.
Collectors of stamps are more interesting than Michele. I can't think of a less interesting hobby but somehow our Mich manages to outdo it. Fun fact: philately is the proper name for stamp-collecting, I think the term comes from Ancient Greek or Latin but I can't quite Remember. The Titans certainly were Greek, giant deities of incredible strength, who ruled during the legendary Golden Age in Greek mythology. We'll need to summon their strength if we are to get any kind of result on Monday.
Michele may have Fallen on hard times recently but I'm taking nothing for granted, he's a former world number 2 so I know He Got Game. As a proud unionist I'm sure he'll be giving it his all For Queen and Country and doing all in his Power to take home the 3 points. We may have had our debates and arguments in the past but like all The Great Debaters from history, we do it with a certain grace and both have a tremendous mutual respect for each other. I look forward to a closely contested match next week.
Before I end this press release I would just like to send my best wishes to everybody affected by The Hurricane in the Americas last week. I know just how devastating they can be having witnessed at first hand the damage caused by Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana a decade ago. Fun fact: The official state bird of Louisiana, which also features on the State flag, is The Pelican.
Brief is what I wanted to keep this PR but that didn't quite go to plan, I'll try and keep the fun facts to a minimum next time. I'm away to relax now, maybe have some Philadelphia cream cheese on toast and stick a movie on. Any suggestions?
