A glimmer of hope
After back-to-back defeats against Godham City, Borgis FC fans had reluctantly accepted the daunting realisation that relegation was on its way. However a vital win against Wigan Roamers on Tuesday has given Borgis a slight glimmer of hope of survival. The question now is: can they do it?

Borgis entered their round 9 clash away at Wigan void of any confidence or form. Their two previous games against Godham City were a potential springboard to safety, however they couldn't get the job done.

Firstly, they were comfortably beaten at the Godham City Arena by two goals to nil. In the rematch at home a week later, Borgis were looking much healthier with the return of midfielder Amadeo Alberto who had missed the previous weeks through injury. Manager Adam Moran went for it and sent his team out 3-5-2 on the hunt for goals. With both teams playing flat-out attack, the game was always going to be an exciting one and in the end the game produced 17 chances.

Borgis had 7 of those chances and were leading the game 2-1 shortly after the break thanks to goals from the returning Alberto (Oh how they had missed him) and Snorri Pétursson. Although they looked nervous at the back and were giving lots of chances away, Borgis pushed on to win the game and had some terrific chances to secure all three points. However Godham City equalised on 77 minutes before stealing it with 9 minutes to play.

It was an absolute kick in the teeth for Borgis who had given everything in the game and still come away with nothing. The gap between them and safety was also widened. Manager Adam Moran refused to speak to the press afterwards and rumours about his departure from the club continue to surface.

However on Tuesday Borgis did get some sort of reprieve. Playing away at Wigan they again dominated for large parts of the game. The main problem for Borgis has been a lack of goals and that almost cost them again. Rasmus Fjeldstad 's fourth goal of the season was enough to seal the win and move Borgis 5 points from safety.

The problem now is the team that is 5 points away is Godham City. Borgis have it all to do and with a vulnerable looking defence coupled with a confidence-sapped strike force. The fight back starts next Tuesday with an away game at fellow strugglers Nottingham Wilder, whilst Godham City play winless bottom side Lamb and Flag FC; the pressure is on.
