Gibsons Warriors
Division 4i, Super League
Manager: Bluealf
History made as GW go from div 8 to SL
So a life time's work for GW manager Farish (well 4 years, 1 month and 3 weeks to be more truthful) boiled down to one game, a title shoot out for promotion to the Super League between Gibsons Warriors and F.C. Ouroboros.

As you would expect it was to be a tight game, with Warriors needing just a point to achieve their dreams it wasn't end to end stuff. But with GW dominating the midfield they took the lead only for the ref to rule it out, could this prove to be costly? It seemed harsh to us after looking at the replay. After that, with not a lot of action, the half came to a close.

In the second half F.C. Ouroboros  took the lead however, as Howarth fired in a low shot after good work by Cosic on the 72nd minute. Still GW couldn't create any clear cut chances, and with the game looking dead and buried Farish sent up everything and the kitchen sink to try and grab an equalizer.

The referee was checking his watch for what seemed like the 100th time as Noa Österlidh broke free down the right and whipped in a cross. Forward Max Persson out jumped his marker to power a header past Baillet to send the away fans wild with delight, and not just the fans as Farish and his coaching team were also going mad in the technical area at the same time.

After the game Farish told the gathered press pack:

"What can I say? I came to this club when they were down on their knees in division 8, the chairmen took a chance on me and I have re-paid him a 1000 times over, if only he would do the same to our bank balance lol. There have been many heroes here at the club but I would like to mention two in particular, firstly captain Anthony McAvoy a rock at the heart of our defence who has been with the club before even I took over.

"It will be such an amazing thing, and not one you see very often, that a player will have played in every single division with one team and McAvoy has held off his retirement to make this happen. We are delighted that he will lead us into the Super League for the first time in the club's history.

"Also it was absolutely fitting that the goal which took us to the top was scored by the second signing I made for this team way back in 2010 as a 19 year old. Max Persson is now into the veteran stage of his career and scorer of 103 goals, but that goal will probably be the most important and remembered goal for the rest of his life.

"It has been a long journey and we are under no illusions of how hard it will be for us next season. But we can always say that we made it; no gimmicks, no long wait as a youth team aged all at once, no team hopping just a massive, massive amount of good old fashioned luck :) "
