Time To Get Real
Well its another season in the Dream League and another relegation after nearly being promoted the season before. So its that time when the press release comes out from me saying the players need to show what their made of and we need to try for promotion. But we've been there a few times now and so far all we've did is drop down the divisons slowly.
The slump was expected over the past few seasons as the team was completely rebuilt, and we hoped for a few easier games down the divisions a bit to help keep the younger players forms up and help them to improve more. That was about as misguided as it gets though. Even with us now in the third division theres still teams in our division better than us, and its not far fetched to think we could face relegation again. The teams in the Dream league now are good even as we go down the divisions to 5 and below.
So i think its time to get real. The Paingivers are not the team they were, Despite having better players than we've ever had before. Instead of trying to get 'where we belong' in the top division fighting for another title, maybe its time to wake up and realise we've not as good as the teams above us and just fight for the cup. Ironically the thing we have always traditionally tried to get knocked out of at this club at the first opportunity, it could be our only hope of silverware for a long time to come.
Our first test in our new venture to win something is against Caçarretas Futebol Clu this Thursday. To be fair we should win comfortably, but thats never a given with The Paingivers.
