Division 4l, Xtreme League

End of an era

Borgis FC manager Adam Moran has released a statement on the club's website this afternoon reflecting on his team's recent efforts in the Xtreme League where he laments the 'unlucky timing' of coming up against the mighty Tour de France. In a heartfelt message to the fans, Moran promises to stay with the club and do his best to get Borgis back to the top once more.

"I have to admit I am full of mixed emotions at the moment. I look back at the previous nine or ten seasons and feel really grateful for the fantastic run we have had. On the other hand, I feel gutted that we don't have any proper silverware to show for it. It leaves you wondering about what ifs. What if Tour de France had started their own project at another time? What if we were in a different league? Would we have won a few trophies elsewhere? It's all meaningless, of course, because we aren't and haven't.

"The players have been incredible for some time now. We finished in second place in Division 4k back in season 62 and narrowly missed out on promotion. We then won four straight promotions winning four divisional titles along the way. We only had five defeats in seventy games! That was some going. We then got back to the Xtreme League for only the second time and we were much more prepared. Unfortunately, we arrived when TdF were just getting out of first gear.

"It comes as no surprise that TdF have won four titles in a row and five out of six seasons. They're the first team to win four on the bounce since H0LST's Recognize This. Incidentally, looking at the all-time standings, TdF and Recognize This have both played 98 games in the top flight and TdF have a near identical record - except that TdF have one more game! And once they win a sixth Xtreme League trophy this season, they will be the clear best ever Xtreme team.

"TdF are an anomaly. It's as simple as that. All we can do now is brush ourselves down, celebrate our brilliant run, reset and start again. I will be here to see a new project through and that starts with selling our top stars to try and make as much money back as possible before reinvesting it in new youths. Viva la Borgis!"
