Div 1A: It's all over but the crying |
Division 1A has proven to be a very competitive league this season, with 3 teams still vying for the title. TSV Sporto lead the hunt and are 1 win from securing the trophy, but are chased every step of the way by both Coven United and the superbly named MyHandsAre Wanderers II.
Unfortunately for Bucks Revolution, they can't count themselves among the top contenders this year, and have languished near the bottom of the table since round 1. The results this week officially relegated the club from 1A after only a season in the division.
It's hard to pinpoint the exact reason for the team's demise. Certainly, a lack of goals from last year's sensation Micael Lindblom have not helped matters, as have key injuries to midfielders like the mercurial Sture Angelin. Revolution's depth leaves much to be desired.
Has the quality of opposition increased significantly since winning Div 2A? Results would suggest so, although Revolution finished above True Blue and beat them twice last season, and yet have clawed together less than half the points of their league contemporaries in 1A. They certainly haven't been thrashed in any matches, their biggest loss being a few 2-0s across the campaign.
Tactical decisions by manager CM certainly have not helped the team, and it has become clear that at the top, where teams are generally very well matched, getting a good start in the league and boosting player form can have seriously beneficial consequences down the line.
Best of luck to the teams at the top as they try to make it to the Super League, hopefully Bucks Revolution will be able to join you there one day.
