Santa asks to play for Boleyn |
This week the chairman of Orchard Boleyn, Ivor Paidderbills, received a letter from a Kris Kringle. Stating he would be dropping in on the 24th with a few gifts and wated to know if he could play up front in the game on Christmas day.
He also stated that if their were foggy conditions that he had a friend who could lead the way in brightening up the conditions. However Kris Kringle arrived very late on the 24th and so the club failed in a late attempt to get him registered for the game on the 25th. In the end it didn't matter as Kringle said he had to fly as he had other matters to attend to.
Kringle left numerous lumps of coal to the players of Orchard Boleyn but with the gas and electricity crisis each player was delighted with their gift. The coach was also pleased that Kringle didn't make his debut as he didn't want his new signing showing up the fitness of the rest of the squad.
The half time oranges were also provided by Kringle, whom could be seen eating a mince pie and downing a pint of milk. The fans at Orchard were told they would win the next game and although some doubted it most said.
"We believe! We believe!"
