Borgis roaming for the last time
After two great weeks in the Xtreme League, Borgis FC are still in 2nd place. The title is still mathematically possible, but manager Adam Moran has already conceded that Tour de France are simply too strong and won't be beaten.

Borgis played in an exceptional game in round 10 when they drew 3-3 away from home against StarWars. Despite taking the lead twice, Borgis fell behind 3-2 in the 71st minute before Craig Lyle smashed home an 81st-minute equaliser. The result dropped Borgis back to 3rd. However, they were back in 2nd a week later after they secured an amazing 1-0 win away from home in round 11 against reigning Xtreme League and Cup champions, Southside Serpents. The victory means Borgis will definitely be in the top-flight again next season.

As for this evening, Borgis are playing a friendly game to mark the end of an era for old rivals Athletico Wigan (Wigan Roamers) as their manager Shlloyd is set to step down at the end of the season. Shlloyd took the reigns of Wigan back in 2009, just 9 months after Moran took the helm at Borgis. The two would go to battle in league and cup some 28 times over the years, with the latest meeting coming in season 67 when Borgis knocked Wigan out of the cup in the 3rd round. The competitive head-to-head record stands as 28 games played, 17 wins for Borgis, 7 draws and 4 wins for Wigan.

We spoke to Moran ahead of the game.

"We're second in the league with three games to go. If you would have told me that at the beginning of the season I probably would have laughed! After the disappointment in the cup, I told the lads to go out and enjoy the rest of the season. The draw at StarWars was something else! And then to beat Serpents was brilliant. That shows how far we've come. We're now safe and have to hope TDF lose their last three games for us to win the title. Not. A Chance!

"This is the reason I decided to let the lads play a friendly game. It's not something I'd usually do, but when Shlloyd let me know he was leaving, it had to happen. I actually can't believe we played them in this season's cup 3rd round, I'm not sure how I missed that one, probably because I still associate them with the name Wigan Roamers. We had some great battles over the years and I'm sad to hear that Shlloyd is leaving, especially given the circumstances that he raised. But I wish him all the very best for the future. I can't promise him an easy game either and I hope to go out with a win for old time's sake!

"All the best, Shlloyd!"
