All over bar the shouting. and swearing |
Coxy Ladies Wulpen's promotion ambitions are hanging by a thread after a strangely angry performance saw them fortunate to escape with a draw from their match at The Norfolk Broads.
Particularly prominent in Wulpen's spikiness was Victoria de Waterloo, as she took revenge for the Broads inflicting a minor injury on Clémence de Vos by booting a Norfolk player into the nearest available water body, broad, river, sea, de Waterloo didn't care. Both her opponent and de Waterloo's games ended at that moment, the home player carried off and The Wader dismissed in ignominy.
de Waterloo's departure pretty well ended any hopes Coxy Ladies had held of forcing a victory out of a game that was goalless at that stage. Instead the question became whether the Flanders side could survive over half-an-hour a player down to take a goalless draw. It was a struggle, but they did cling on to this point, though how precious it will be is arguable as they now sit five points adrift of Division 4j's play-off place.
Wulpen boss Janik commented, "that wasn't what I was hoping for, and it leaves us very unlikely to catch back up with second spot. We won't give up, but we have to be realistic - even winning both our remaining games probably wouldn't be enough now."
