A little look ahead

Today we finally finished our rebuild project, which took us 12 seasons to complete. I have to admit it was a lot more fun than I had expected when I decided to pull the plug on the team in season 42.

With our limited resources, we still managed to rustle up an all-HT squad that delighted me with their development over the years. We now arrive back at the highest level one season ahead of our envisioned schedule. The road to the top was made very interesting indeed by our ongoing rivalry with FC Bubble II, who forced us into the playoff spot two seasons in a row (51, 52) by simply being the more consistent team.

Last season we ranked #1 in the Classic League in terms of average team rating, so I suppose we have to consider ourselves the title favorite in our return season. Now we have to wait and see how our players handle that kind of pressure.

The first goal is up for grabs quite quickly. We need one win to pass the Wildcats and reclaim the top spot in the Classic League all time rankings. That's a nice short term goal to strive for first, obviously combined with staying in one piece in the first Cup round.

There is one ambition that we will need to chase either this season or the next. We have never won the Cup tournament, because we usually just bowed out after 3-5 rounds. I think a club like ours needs to have at least one of those trophies in the cabinet, so depending on how the league season works out we might give it a go this time around.
