Thrilled to be beaten!
In any normal circumstances one would have been pretty down after losing a game 2-1 in which for one you were ahead, for two became behind only in the latter stages of the game and for three at that point also got a goal disallowed which would be your equaliser. And all this when you are fighting not to get relegated.
Above exactly is what happened last week in The Fifth Column's very important encounter against the smelly bunch of VFB Buttfart at Foul Winds Park. You might already read a great presser about these occurrences in the Xpert Daily as Buttfart's presswriter was a bit more sober, more quickly than yours truly.
There was a huge twist though to the above as the Five Point's players ended up dancing, gliding and hugging the Buttfart players at the moment of the final whistle. And all fans whether dressed green or red ended up all smiles; singing and cheering in a festive mood.
What did happen that whilst this very tense 90 minutes of very careful and tense football was going on there was the game of Akademia against Bucharest. A win from the home team would mean The Fifth Column would walk away scot-free from relegation worries and would cement their place for another round in division 4 next season.
VFB Buttfart actually needed a win to keep up with the number one and two in their fight for, at least, a playoff spot. No wonder the crowd went mental when Sensini curled in the 2-1 lead in the 83th minute of the game. Rabbits, Natives and Bowey Boys were also cheering though as five minutes before Akademia took the lead and in the exact same minute as Sensini scored the big screen in Foul Winds Park showed Akademia pulling in a 2-0 lead against Bucharest. Now the whole stadium was in a positive mental state.
"This is some truly crazy stuff what happened. The whole season has been an awesome thriller of a ride and this accumulation of tension topped everything! We survive against all odds! We finish in fifth place with a team consisting of teenagers mostly. It's unbelievable still! Our delegation of fans who travelled all the way to Akademia stadium, accompanied by supportive Buttfart fans also had an amazing afternoon!"
VFB Buttfart staff and players and their Fifth Column counterparts ended up together in some shady bar with halfdressed women in an undisclosed orgy of fun and celebration although the Buttfart half had to restrain themselves for a bit. They play USB Xperts Thursday in the final round. A win is imminent and needed, but they have to score goals goals and more goals to grab second or even first place.
The Fifth Column has not too much to play for now against Akademia. So it is focus on the already excellent DV-values and thus the fans who were at Buttfart's place anyway are staying over for a week to help fill Foul Winds Park and all local bars and big screen seats to watch Thursday's game. Hopefully ending in even more partying after that final whistle!
In other news of the category "frigging awesome"; Norax FC (managed near perfection by Woodstock's brother) did the unbelievable again as their mesmerising squad won the Power league Cup for the second time in history after beating Cambió Climático 1-0 in the final at the Xpert Arena! Hooray!
And then we do not even have space left for the spectacular and greatly appreciated UKsNo1 return!
