Draw ends promotion hopes
Economic Girlymen FC Manager Pacific Panache has conceded his team's promotion hopes are over for another season after a 1-1 draw at Vårdsbergs IF.  The result leaves the two clubs in joint second in the table on 24 points, but Vårdsbergs have a vastly superior goal difference.  Rio de Mauro are ten points clear at the top of the table and have long since wrapped up the Division title.

The Girlymen had taken a 9th minute lead when Dirk Keeble headed home Harry Kane's flick from Assar Colliander's corner.  However, a lapse in defence allowed Henric Burvall to break away from the Girlymen defence to slot home the equaliser.

The Girlymen could still win promotion via the playoffs if Vårdsbergs fail to beat The Blue Coltranes and Economic Girlymen take three points from training cones Club República de Cuba.  However, Girlymen manager Pacific Panache concedes this is unlikely to happen.

"Vårdsbergs are just too professional, and The Blue Coltranes really have nothing to play for.  I expect they'll play their youth players and go for development and Vårdsbergs will wrap up second.  We had a chance today - we were in front, but we were unable to hold onto the lead.  It pretty much sums up our season really, close but not quite there."

The Girlymen are rumoured to be considering a clean out of some of club's long serving players at the end of the season, but Panache refused to comment on who would be shown the door.
