Good home win sees Minnows stay 2nd
Today, we welcomed bottom club Dynamo Split to The Pond for our Round 12 of 14 match. Having beaten them earlier in the season 0-3 away from home, I was fairly confident of victory today. I went with a very offensive playing style and an attacking 4-3-3 formation.
After a slow opening few minutes we started to dominate the ball, and took the lead in the 8th minute with a free kick by Franky Temmerman finished off by a sensational volley by Joachim Ortmann. On 20 minutes, we made it 2-0 with a long range shot from Siegfried Buck assisted by once again Franky Temmerman. We had a couple of additional chances but weren't able to convert these.
Siegfried Buck extended our lead in the 49th minute with a breakaway goal assisted by Franky Temmerman for his third of the game. With the game won, we made our first change on 66 minutes with Dietmar Bausch coming off to be replaced by Claus-Dieter Holzwarth. Two minutes later and Joachim Ortmann scored us a fourth with a close-range effort assisted by Siegfried Buck.
Pepe Zuca made way for substitute Maximilian Thon in the 74th minute as we looked to put some fresh legs on the pitch. Dynamo Split were reduced to ten men on 75 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct to further cement our victory. Our last change came with two minutes to go with Helmuth Knaus being substituted by André Hahne.
The result sees us stay in 2nd, but with FC Oxelösund very close to us in 3rd with two games remaining. If we can stay in 2nd it will be another trip to the playoffs and possible promotion.
