Steelmen rue chance |
Larkvegas Steelmen drew 1-1 at home with division leaders AFC Hindley but were left ruing a poor refereeing decision which could have seen them claim all 3pts. With the scores level at nil-nil on the 24th minute, Neil Hooper floated a chip over the visiting keepers head and into the net. It looked from all angles a perfectly legitimate goal. However the assistant ref had other ideas and flagged it, wrongly, offside.
Two minutes later the Steelmen were in the lead, with Falco stepping up to curl a freekick over the wall and into the net. The Larkvegas side couldn't capitalise on their lead and spurned a good chance to make it 2-0 just before half time. As so often happens with a precarious 1-0 lead, one goal can change it and AFC Hindley got their goal from the only chance they created on 50 mins.
Steelmen manager Campbell_mfc said, "We had enough chances to win the game, we should have been 2-0 up at half time, credit to AFC Hindley as they kept going and got their goal, there's a reason that they're top. It's obviously very frustrating for us as we try to catch the top two, we've already drawn too many games for my liking. The way that we're losing goals when teams have only created 1 or 2 chances against us is concerning, as is our inability to manage games when we get infront."
