Borgis top at halfway
Borgis FC manager Adam Moran called it a 'disappointing draw', however the point earned away at Oakways Rangers - as we hit the halfway stage of season 53 - was enough to fire Borgis FC to the top of Division 2c, with Menace 2 Society relinquishing top spot as they lost 1-0 away to 3rd placed Tanopapinho.

The draw in the league came after a tough 2-1 defeat at home against the current Xtreme League champions, Joaquín Sánchez FC, in the first leg of the fourth round of the Xtreme Legaue Cup. It was the first time Borgis FC have tasted defeat all season in both competitions. With the 2nd leg coming up next, Borgis potentially, and most likely, will go three games without a win. This hasn't happened in nearly five months so all eyes will be on Borgis to see how they respond. Manager Adam Moran isn't fazed:

"It was a disappointing draw at Oakways. I'm not going to talk about another red cross injury as it's boring me now as well, I just have to accept it will keep happening. As for the result: it was a game a we most likely should have won all things considered but we didn't do enough in the end. And yet despite our worst performance of the season we trickled into first place, which is a reward of the effort we've put in from day one. We now have a position we can hold onto and if we remain unbeaten for the final seven games, the title is ours.

"As for the silly remarks about not winning in three games, well we've not played that third game yet so hold onto your hats. The first leg I thought we did pretty good against a top-class team, the champions in fact. We didn't have our full strength midfield which made winning it near on impossible.

"I opted for a defensive approach with the idea of keeping it level and then going away in the second leg to try and nick it. Unfortunately we conceded a late second goal, which was a real shame. But we aren't deflated and will now go into the next leg and really go for it. I'll be playing more offensively for sure to see what we can get. Whatever the result, Borgis will keep moving forward."
