Xpert Boys 1-2 FC Coruscant
Coruscant manager ObiJon was a relieved man after his side's last gasp win over Xpert Boys, which keeps them in the hunt for promotion and the Xtreme League Division 3e title.
After struggling to make much impact at all of their own in the first half, Coruscant fell behind shortly before half time to a spectacular long range effort from Luke Bowie. After the break Coruscant improved somewhat but still struggled to find a way through Xpert Boys' stubborn defence.
It was not until the 88th minute that André Martins gave Coruscant a new hope as he linked up with Immanuel Weise in midfield before firing in a fierce drive from all of 35 yards to equalise. With the force fully awakened Coruscant surged forwards in search of a winner, laying seige to Xpert Boys goalmouth.
In the 92nd minute Rodney Mills was fouled on the edge of the box and he duly stepped up to take the freekick himself, whipping an unstoppable effort around the wall and into the net with virtually the final kick of the game.
"I'm very happy, it was an important win for us. I don't think we've been playing too badly but the pressure was on us today. The lads didn't give in when it wasn't going for them and they fought right to the final whistle. We now have 2 huge games ahead of us, both will be like cup finals and with the 2 sides ahead of us playing each other next, anything could happen yet."
The best performance of the day for FC Coruscant was a sterling defensive display by Almin Krizman, who spoke after the match:
"the gaffer has brought me in to do a job for him and hopefully that's what i'm doing but the job isn't finished yet."
