The State of the Spirit Squad |
Previously known as Turnul Alb Brasov, and before that rscanderlecht. The Spirit Squad came under new management and a new look with manager dixonrobert.
Many fans were sceptical about the initial appointment of Dixon, especially since it was one of many managers who had come and gone with the club, and they'd never really had an established manager that seemed to have plans with the club outside of keeping them as a stable lower division club. Dixon however came to disagree with this philosophy as he entered his second season. With the transfer market reopened after he saved the side from relegation in his first half of a season as a manager, he emptied the bank on completely adapting the squad with a new lease of life.
Since taking over as manager, Dixon has gotten rid of 15 of the original squad of players, with 11 of those being released from their contracts and 4 of them being sold on the cheap. He has also signed 11 players himself, with an estimated total expenditure of just under 9 million econs, with some of those players being excellent prospects for the future, while others being already established and experienced players that the younger players can learn from. On top of this, a lot of money has gone into the youth academy, with the hopes of using it self sustain funds and talent in the future without having to spend on unproven talent from other clubs. This has already proven successful, with the exciting prospect Dorian Burley being picked up by Royal Arsenal for a hefty 8.9 million econ which almost covers for the sides transfer expenditures in just one sale.
This is all very exciting news for fans of The Spirit Squad. Dixon seems to have very high ambitions that the side can succeed, and it's already starting to show this season with a really solid showing from the whole side that of which is currently sitting just outside of the playoff place.
In an interview, Dixon spoke of his ambitions with our press:
"It's really great to see that everything is going so well with the side. I came here because I saw the challenge. The squad needed a lot of work if it was going to find any success in the future, and I feel like I've provided that framework for them to build on, and I hope that the board sees my ambitions and my dedication and decides to keep me on and take this team to the top."
"What was the interview for this job like with the chairman? Any creative differences?"
"When I went into the interview, I knew that I wasn't going to let it be just me getting interviewed, I never want to manage a club that doesn't have a chairman that fully backs me 100%. First I asked him what his own ambitions were for the club, where he wanted to see it in the next 10 seasons. Then, when I heard what he had to say about the club that he loved, I pitched my ideas for how to improve the side, next steps and a sustainable resource of making enough profits that we can qualify the club has a business. He was impressed, and so was I. The best chairmen in the world are the ones that support the club that they own, and that's important in knowing what is best for the club. No chairman has exclusively won the Xpert Champions League themselves, but they certainly play a part in supporting their employees and believing in their philosophies, luckily me and my chairman see eye to eye on a lot of things, and we're both very excited for what the future will bring."
"Do you see The Spirit Squad getting left behind in terms of results while this rebuild takes place?"
"I think you only need to look at the results we're getting now and think that we can only really improve with the young players that we have in our side. I think other teams around us will have a job keeping up with us, I'm seeing a significant growth in a lot of the young lads that some managers would die for. They're confident, and they're maturing early. That's all you can ask for with a side such as ours, and I'm really pleased with it. I can see us getting promoted to the next division within a couple of seasons at most."
"Thanks for your time."
"It's been an honour, thanks for catching up with me."
