Going up up up
The Gildan Warriors have done it, after a tough season which saw them finish in second they have won their play off match and are promoted to Division 5.

The Match couldn't have started any better for them as their captain Zacharia Hendry slid a corner ball back to the edge of the box and 22 year old Sivakumar curled it into the back of the net. 1-0 Warriors.

The Warriors showed great composure in possession untill the 14th minute when they gave away possession and Raoni Football's Mitsuo Yajima was passed the ball to let fly with a long range effort. It left Gildan keeper John Ruddy scrambling as he watched the ball go into the top corner of the net. 1 - 1 Game On.

The Warriors stepped up the tempo and went on to have 2 efforts at goal but Raoni's keeper Veloso kept cool and kept the ball out; untill the 27th minute when Zacharia Hendry chipped the ball over the Raoni defence and Alexander Imaz slotted the ball into the corner of the net to send the traveling fans wild. 2-1 The Warriors!

Raoni turned the tide in the final 10 minutes and had 3 great efforts saved before going into the break 2-1 down. Raoni came out the tunnel for the second half and carried on where they left off with an early onslaught resulting in a string of saves from Ruddy.

Against then run of play Gildan striker Fredrick Dilley was slotted through, and struck a fierce shot into the back of the net before he looked over to the linesman to see a raised flag. Goal disallowed!

Raoni were first to blink as they made a 60th minute substitution, and 10 minutes later it paid off as they imitated Gildan's first goal by laying back a corner which striker Evan Wigglesworth struck a fiercely into the bottom of the net. 2-2 Game Back On.

Raoni followed with substitutions in the 72nd and 85th minute as The Gildan Warriors stepped up the tempo, playing world class football as they kept possession and tried to find a way through a tiring defence. But with 2 quick shots saved in succession it looked like this match was going to penalties: before Raoni gave it one last attack.

Raoni looked like they were about to score but a sublime save from John Ruddy denied them and the break was on! A quick counter attack from The Warriors saw Frederick Dilley knock a ball behind the high defence and into the path of a blazing Sivakumar who, in the 86th minute, chipped the ball over a rushing Raini keeper; when the ball trickled over the line the Stadium erupted as Gildan Warrior fans went crazy. 3-2 Gildan Warriors.

The dying minutes saw The Warriors hold onto the ball and, as his youngsters held on, Manager Theswantonlad watched eagerly from the sidelines as nail biting minutes ticked away. Then that was it...the final whistle blew and The Warriors had done it. What set out as a development strategy had ended with promotion; the young manager and his young team had done it, they were going up.
