Eleven Erses Close the Gap in Div 3e
THE ERSE HOLE, Football, thy name is chaos, and Eleven Erses are absolutely thriving in it. Despite falling behind to a questionable penalty early on, the boys in blue bounced back in style to hand league leaders Oakways Rangers their third loss of the season and blow Division 3e wide open.
Oakways went ahead in the 15th minute via a penalty dispatched by Zach Emblen, but the Erses didn't blink. They hit back 11 minutes later through Aaron McManaman, who slotted home from close range after being teed up by the ever-involved Garry Rattray.
From there, it was all Erses.
Garry Rattray scored a second-half brace, first from a tidy one-two with Amândio Figueiras (55'), then finishing a rapid counterattack launched by substitute Bailey MacLaren (65') after Vahe Mehranian limped off with a suspiciously theatrical groin issue.
Oakways, once comfortably top, looked rattled. They finished the match holding more ice packs than points, with a trio of injuries and even more regrets.
Manager AdamIpswich was all smiles post-match:
"Oakways came in top of the table. They left with bruises and a reminder that you don't swagger into The Erse Hole without consequences."
Final Score: Eleven Erses 3 (McManaman 26', Rattray 55', 65') Oakways Rangers 1 (Emblen 15' pen)
With 3 points separating the top four and momentum firmly on our side, Eleven Erses are charging toward the summit, one Rattray rocket at a time.
Next Fixture: Che Guevara - Away - May 27 Bring snacks. Bring noise. Bring Rattray his usual four cans and two sausage rolls.
