Some lows taste better than the highs
I believe this season, as everybody could see, we were harmed.
Although we had better match stats than our opponents in 11 of the 14 games, we had to await until the very last fixture to save our neck so we could live to fight another season (will be the 7th in a row at the main division). It's an achievement by itself surviving so many years in here without spending a single econ to renew the team or making it better through transfer market.
We surely, surely deserved a lot more than a 5th place. In paper we were the weakest team of the division (I saw it using the VIP features), but we surely proved that with the right manager in place, you can definitely boost your odds and go for the "impossible" as we did before with the three Xpert League's in a row and now by overcoming the "Xpert League curse", being the first dethroned champion in 24 seasons that held his ground at the top division more than two seasons.
And, at the end of the day, we got the Manager of the Season award...with a 5th place. I just wonder how far we could have gone if there was no external influence...
With that said, congrats to Matchstick Men and to its manager TonyBrazil for an outstanding season and accomplishment. The first one is an unforgettable memory and experience. Well done.
Let's see what we can do next season, hopefully this time around with no "bad luck" appended to our tail.
