Gene and Eric surveyed the desolate scene of another bottled, (partially) unsuccessful campaign and wept.
'We're rubbish.' sobbed Gene. 'Not the players, but us - the managers. If Val was in charge, maybe even Lambo, we'd be challenging for the title. At least we seem to do OK in the lower tiers, so next season maybe we can scrape a few wins. But honestly, ever since the campaign where we threw away the title, the belief just seems to have gone.'
