End of an era
There was no last day heroics for Wychwood Forest, they were soundly beaten by the league winners. Whilst they did create several chances in the first half the lack of final product saw them behind at the break. In the second half the age of the squad really showed and Inter Wednesday dominated possession to see them crowned Division Champions.
Its clear that this squad has run its course and the inevitable rebuild has to begin, however, there was a wonderful moment at the end of the game where the manager brought on Jeffery Webb for the final ten minutes.
Webb, who is retiring at the end of the season, was brought to Forest by Philisco when he took over management, since then he has become an absolute legend at the club. With 118 appearances and 86 goals, Webb has become a real fan favourite as well as taking home 8 Top Scorer and 6 Most Points awards during his time with Forest.
As the final whistle blew today the Forest fans were just as loud as the Inter fans celebrating their title except they were chanting Webbs name. Webb made his way to the corner of the ground where the away fans were singing. As he applauded the Forest faithful for their support he was joined on the pitch by his two sons Cobb and Spyder.
Wychwood Forest may very well be heading for a complete transformation but Jeffery Webb will never be forgotten.
