Red Hawks > Red Squirrels |
Dulwich Dynamo feel as though they got away with one in their fixture today away against Clarko83's New York Red Squirrels. It took the away side until the 75th minute to get a shot at goal. Up until that point the Red Squirrels had set up brilliantly, nullifying the Red Hawks' well known winged attacks and had predicted a 5 midfield.
However, despite setting up tactically well they couldn't hold on for the whole game and the quality of Jasper Strachan's wicked cross was too much when it met Carolina Buruchaga's head before it struck the back of the net. 2 more chances were shortly created, the final one on 89 minutes when goalscorer Buruchaga became provider to set up Geoff Idle to make it 2-0 to Dulwich.
"We've seen them set up usually predictably, and so we chose perhaps an obvious set up in the hope we could sneak in with our best formation and play to our attacking strengths. To some degree that still worked, but the fact we were far from our best and still came up with the goods is a little pleasing. It shows that we have come a long way and we may have more in us than we thought.
"However, we can't get ahead of ourselves, the league is very tight with just one win separating 1st and 5th! For today we celebrate and commiserate Clarko83, who I think will look at this game and be very disappointed that his tactics didn't reward his side with more."
