Pompey open with Cup win, & in league |
.
Blues win against managerless San Antonio - and beat luckless Lucca FC
Portsmouth found themselves with the 'nose to the grindstone' seemingly quicker than ever, pre-season friendlies were cut one short (Pompey were due to play Dragons Eye Sweden in a friendly instead of the Euro League Cup - but then hadn't done enough for a bye). 3 days on, and they opened their Div 5:21 league campaign too, against Lucca FC, runners-up in Div 6:13.
With San Antonio's manager being absent, and also a loss of players, Pompey didn't know until the last minute if they would even have a game! FC San Antonio bringing just 10 players, no keepers and no subs! So no real commentary.
Archie Avalos got 2, as did youngster Rodgrio Aires, Bernd Vögele scored, and late on, so did Pompey's new teenage signing Eldur Albertsson, 6v0 (Chances: 8-0).

The Blues hosted Lucca FC today, with Foxy_McFoxy bringing his side down to a wet & windy South Coast. Caro Biemmi opened the scoring for the Blues, then a controversial Avalos penalty (no VAR) seemed to settle things just past the half-hour.
Tomás Jesus Cruz cut-in from the left to make it 3v0 on 66 minutes, before the Blues were gifted a very flattering 4th in the very last minute - Luke Gillespie, in trying to put the ball out for a corner, slicing in to his own net. 4v0 (C:5-1).
