Formidable Athletic shining

It takes a lot to entertain this writer. He's seen a lot of football and witnessed some of the greatest moments in European football over the last 20-25 years. Despite this, sometimes it is the small sparks that are most exciting. Stegger Athletic might just be that next small Spark.

When they picked up a couple of wins early in the season it didn't mean much at all. To be honest, a number of teams will do this only to lose their next two matches. Athletic did not lose their next two matches though. They won them comfortably. Then they won the next two.

Six matches in and Stegger Athletic have averaged a scoring record of 4.5 goals per game and have yet to concede at all. And while the manager has picked up Manager Of The Round each and every round this season, individual players are doing their part too. Veterans such as Fox and Munce lead the assists and goal tables, whilst new signing Pavarotti is proving the most astute signing in the club's history, coming in for around 100,000econs and scoring seven goals already this season. At twenty years of age, the kid has a bright future.

It is this shared future that is perhaps the most exciting. This is not a club looking for instant success (though they seem certain to find it this season). Far from it, they are a young ambitious squad who are keen to carve out a platform for this new football club.

As far as this writer can tell tell, there are no limits to the heights this club can reach.
