| All time high: the story of Eun-Gyu Pyun |
At the age of 37, in his 350th game during his 22nd season for the only club he has represented since the age of 16, Whitehorse FC, Mr. Pyun reached another milestone of his carer - The all time scoring high.
Now sitting at 170 points he finally passed none less than Arjen Boudesteyn, who sits with 169, as the best point scorer in this club's history.
And I say final not as this would be the last game that he played. No, far from it. But we all know how much Pyun has fought to reach all this way.
Born the son of a poor farmer in South Korea, Pyun lived a tough life on the farm. It was standard with 12 hour long work days already at the age of 7. But thanks to all the hard work as a child he developed the strength and endurance needed do become a great soccer player.
He got picked up in South Korea during a high school soccer game. He became a professional soccer player at the age of 16, and has never looked back since.
Now he is the given captain of our team. Honestly, he does most of the managing too. A strong leader that is clear proof for all youngsters trying to make the squad that you can make it from nothing, and become great.
What a man. What a legend.
Today we salute you and wish you all the best during the remainder of your career, which we all hope will last many years still!
Finally awarning, Harewood is closing in from behind only 14 points less, and he is two years younger. Watch out old man!
