Managers Shlloyd and Adam Moran are no strangers to each other. In fact, since their first meeting with each other back in 2009, they have battled another thirteen times, with only two of those games being friendlies. It has been a storied rivalry that reached fever pitch a few seasons ago back in 2014 when the two managers' clubs, Borgis and Wigan Roamers, went head-to-head for the Division 5:18 title.
After leading the table all season, Borgis faced 2nd-placed Wigan at home in the final game of the season, and many expected Borgis to walk out as champions. However, Wigan had other ideas and inflicted a devastating 1-4 defeat to crown themselves as champions.
Borgis manager Adam Moran admitted the defeat caused a deep heartache that continued for many seasons after until Borgis finally got some revenge in 2015 when the two teams met in Division 3e and Borgis walked away 2-0 winners.
Then last season, Borgis recorded two 1-0 victories over Wigan; two wins which proved to be vital in Borgis' claim for survival.
And now the teams have followed each other into Divison 3d and will go into battle again once more tonight in the 5th round of the season. The current stats has Borgis with 7 wins, Wigan with 6 wins, and just the one draw (which happened in the very first meeting), proving that these two teams always put on a show.
Manager Adam Moran spoke early this morning ahead of tonight's game:
"Wigan and Borgis have a storied past and tonight will be another battle. I have a lot of respect for Shlloyd and Wigan, I think they and Borgis are very similar. This season so far though, Wigan have been a different kettle of fish. They lead the table and remain unbeaten. But we are the home team and we must match them tonight. I am hoping for three points."
