UU Accies had a ball |
Division 5 was always going to be tough for the UU Accies and another defeat by UM AFC yesterday showed their manager was right in his estimation:
"With the current squad quality we have here then Division 6 is about our level. Division 5 was always a bit too tough for us and this season showed why: we're not good enough yet. This latest defeat to JoJo33 just highlighted our inadequacies. Her team was well worthy of the win and points.
Los Renegados and The Rebel Alliance have both done themselves a power of good, making the last few games even more exciting, reducing the points gap from 1st to 4th to just 4 points, how’s that for exciting!
“The Sink will be playing host to Division 6 football next season, and we accept that. Getting to Division 5 was a great achievement for us after winning the league last season although, to be honest, it was unexpected and a bit of a bonus. We weren’t aiming for Division 5 for another 3 or 4 seasons.
“The plan was simple: build, achieve and consolidate. Do that for a few seasons and take each level in the hope to get to Division 3. But we have enjoyed our brief stint at this level and look forward to returning in a few seasons when we are better equipped to handle it.
“With us and Miss-U it’s either UM or Boston to go down. Best of luck to both of them as they go head-to-head next week, with BC carrying home advantage. We’re away to Ryans Rangers in the same round. Howesdog knows it’s tough at the top, but it’s even tougher at the bottom.
"That said, we've had a great time, enjoyed a lot of good football, even if most of it was played against us, showed we can play at this level, occasionally, and made some new friends along the way. We've had a ball all season long and go down smiling :)
