The unlikely lads? JST in last 16 |
A 1-1 draw at home against The Hashashins was enough to earn JS De Tinchebray progression into the last 16 of the XCL. This is the club's maiden campaign in Xpert11's elite tournament and making it through into the knockout stages is a fine achievement, however it looks like being the end of the line after Season 54's XCL winners, Recognize This, are to be JST's opponents.
Mangaged by current world #3 manager HOLST, Recognize They have already sealed their 4th successive Xtreme League title, but have to play their cup semi-final tomorrow and have a league match the day before the first leg, in which JST are the visitors.
Said Gmswjambo on the draw:
"In a way it's a good draw for us; the pressure's all on them as one of the tournament favourites. They're certainly stronger and should give us a good pumping, but with a bit of luck we'll still have something to play for when they come to ours on New Year's Day."
Although JST sneaked a precious win over Botorca last weekend, relegation is still looming large in the shadows while the club prances around the XCL. First on the agenda is Sunday's trip to Ant HIll Mob, currently just one off the pace at the top end of the table, and should that not go well Gmswjambo may have difficulty choosing his priorities for the run-in.
The sale of Giantomenico may have freed up a bit of cash for training and win bonuses over the two weeks to come, but that's one less option in midfield. Three first XI players are one yellow away from a suspension, but on the plus side Carvalhais is back from injury and Haylock will be fit for next Wednesday
