Salzburg struggle for survival |
Edelweiß Salzburg face a struggle to stay in Division 5:14, after they lost another home game. With just four games remaining, survival is looking increasingly unlikely.
Salzburg started the game against Moossee Kickers LFC relativaly well. In fact they had an opponent leave the pitch injured after half an hour, and soon took advantage by taking the lead through young striker Isolde Wagner.
The collective collapse followed in the second half, when Caroline Pedersen scored an own goal, and Moossee players added two more to that. Worse still, Pedersen later had to leave the pitch with an injury as well.
The result leaves Salzburg at 10 points. Salvation is not yet impossible, but the next game is against league leaders Tangerine FC. After that, only three games remain to save Salzburg's skin. If they pull it off, it would be some stunt. But rumours have it that the club is internally already making preparations for another season in division 6.
