Yesan cleared of transfer wrongdoing
Yesan United's move for highly-regarded Nigerian teenager Pius Akinkugbe was the subject of a thorough investigation by the X11 Transfer Committee last night, after unnamed sources flagged the 2.5m deal as suspicious.  However, the transfer commissioners, having looked at all aspects of the trade, were satisfied that there was nothing wrong with the transaction and the player has now made the switch, joining up with his new YU teammates at Yesan Sports Park today for their first training session ahead of pre-season.

Yesan manager AndyC had the following comment to make on the story, "I'm not sure where the rumour came from that there was something untoward with this deal. Yes, it's quite a bit of money for a young lad but we believe it represents fair market value and that we've got a very talented player who will go on to be a huge star for this club in seasons to come. I was certainly surprised to get the call that the transfer was being investigated - nothing like that has ever happened before in my years of management - but I wasn't concerned because I know our finances are entirely clean.

"The chairman and I were happy to let the auditors check over the terms of the deal, as were our colleagues at Qunderland where Pius was coming from, and clearly they found nothing wrong - as we knew they would. The deal is completed and I'm looking forward to seeing what Pius can bring to Yesan United on the pitch."

In addition, the YUs have promoted promising 16-year-old schoolboy Matija Suler from their youth team to the first team setup ahead of the new season. The defender was formerly the captain of Yesan's youth squad and is said to be very highly regarded by the coaching staff there. Set to leave ahead of the new season are left-back Luciano Pagliarini and Polish U21 midfielder Wlodek Jojko, both of whom requested transfers in search of more regular game time in the coming season.
