Good start for Fifth Column |
After the enjoyment and the relaxment of the silly season, The Fifth Column got off to a good start in division 3 after their promotion.
In a fully packed and cheerful Hell´s Kitchen the club hosted C.N.F. The fans got a happy start of the season as, after only two minutes of play, they saw their favorites taking the lead after young Tada Simsalabim put the ball behind Clavero after a fast breakaway. The team kept their dominance throughout the rest of the game and this saw even more youngsters enter in the second half of the game which was won 2-0.
"A good start is important. More so after promotion we wanted to show that we are ready for football at a higher level. We showed just that in a good performance and hope to continue this the rest of the season."
More good news came last week as the club was able to sell midfielder Glen van der Laan for about 12 million econ. The player will seek his luck in the Xpert League and will do well, likely.
"We really needed our wallet filled. The players are accustomed to high training standards and good facilities. We can now give them that and do as well as possible and make the best players out of them we can possibly do."
Meanwhile, The Fifth Column's first cup encounter has been drawn. Seeing that it is just the start of the tournament the Five Points club draw a weaker opponent with the likes of Silver Eleven, and this should serve well to both give all youngsters a chance at play time whilst also winning the games.
First awaits a very tough game later this week away at Werder Efilon, who is one of the strongest teams in the division, so it will be tough to bring home at least some bacon. Yet with a team getting in better shape by the day the players surely will try.
