| Soloman: No excuses not to win league |
As Stegger Athletic breezed their way through the 'Battle of the Athletics', and moved up to second place in the league, Soloman84 has declared war on Division 6, insisting there is no reason why his team should not only achieve back to back promotions but also take consecutive league titles.
Before the match, the manager stressed the importance of getting three points, as Ary Athletic looked down from the lofty position of top of the table.
A clinical performance by his team and an exceptional piece of team management led to Stegger Athletic taking a four nil home victory, Joshua Munce bagging a hat-trick in the process.
The gaffer was elated with his team, "I laid down the challenge. I set them up and they smashed them down. It was terrific. I'm stoked for the lads."
Asked if he now sees his team as title contenders, the manager spoke with certainty.
"We should win this division now. No question. The only other team that had a manager has gone. Probably due to the humiliating defeat inflicted upon his team.
"But we have no excuses now. If we can't win this division against a bunch of rudderless, albeit bigger ships, then we don't deserve to be floating around in this ocean."
Poor analogies aside, the manager makes a valid point; and with the road seemingly clear ahead there will be an expectation from the board and supporters for the team to charge straight ahead into title glory.
