Wahn Given Testimonial
FC Barnstone have today released a statement declaring 33 year old goalkeeper Oliver Wahn has been offered a testimonial season.

Wahn is 4 games short of 250 appearances after being snapped up 14 seasons ago for just 47,700 econ from Onenilup (currently in division 3g). Manager greyhound admitted that bringing a 19 year old Wahn to Works Lane was a gamble, but a calculated one and doesn't think you have to look too far to see the reasons why it paid off.

"We only knew about Oliver through the transfer market. Even at 19 his leadership and intelligence stood out and we brought him in. I think his stats prove that this gamble paid off."

Wahn was originally brought in as back up for Gary Mashiter but a slight knock to the then number 1 meant an immediate call up for the first team. Greyhound was building a young side and despite conceding 9 goals in his first two games, Wahn had a presence about himself that led to him replacing Mashiter for good. It took 20 games until Wahn kept his first clean sheet, but by then he was the established number one and captain of the team at just 20 years of age. Wahn has since kept 65 clean sheets, been named in the xpert11 54 times and lead the team to 2 promotions.

The club statement read;

"Today we have agreed to offer Oliver Wahn a testimonial season to thank him for his long un-interrupted service for the club. We would like to put on record how much the club appreciates the work Wahn has done not only on the pitch but off it as well. Oliver has been an integral member of the squad that has climbed from division 7 up to division 4 and we hope he can again lead us back up there. More details of what the season will bring will be available on the clubs website."
