Shark Utd plan Ulexit from top flight |
Shark Utd manager Hertz Van Rental was shocked this week after the supporters of Shark Utd voted 52% to 48% to exit the Ultimate League top flight. Ulexit, as it has become known meant that Van Rental was forced to put out a weakened team in Mondays game, thus losing the game and meaning that with two games to go, the team are definitely down after one season in the top flight.
Van Rental stated after the result "I have been in charge of Shark Utd for 17 seasons. My goal at the start was to take this team back to the Ultimate League top flight, which I achieved this season. It was 17 seasons of blood, sweat and tears, ups and downs but I finally got there. I'm devastated that the fans voted to leave the Ultimate League top flight so soon after we got there".
Boris Gove, leader of the better out campaign, explained the reasoning behind his decision "Our team have been very successful over the last few seasons. We have got used to success and winning games. We all thought that getting promotion to the top flight would be the pinnacle of this and the teams achievement but it hasn't worked out. We have one win all season. I don't enjoy going to games anymore and seeing defeats or nil nil draws. We need to get out of the top flight and go back down the divisions so we can start to win games again and enjoy football".
Veteran fan Ralf Garnett voted leave and explained his decision "We have spent 35 million on training sessions this season, all wasted as the defeats just dent our form and we have to spend more on training the players. By leaving and winning more games, there is less training and more money to spend. That 35 million can buy a tasty player. I'd rather see that money spent elsewhere. We also have top foreign managers coming to Shark Utd and stealing our points. I'm fed up with it. I want to play in a league with managers from our own country. These foreign managers are too good for us, it's not fair".
Remain campaigner George Cameron was disappointed with the fans decision. The young supporter had waited years for Shark Utd to reach the top flight, having been too young to remember Shark Utd previous top flight campaigns "yes the football was poor, but I loved the visit of the big teams, the great players etc. This is what the Ultimate League is all about, and I want to be at the very top of it".
Van Rental refused to discuss his future, but stated that he will stay on for the remainder of the season at least. A decision is then expected as to whether he will lead the team next season and try and return to the top flight, but will find it difficult to go against the wishes of the majority of supporters.
