Who is this RSole? |
The managerial comings and goings of the Hattrick League’s top teams has been hot news over the last couple of weeks. It all started when Kuni inexplicably resigned from Black Lotus in the Master League and Chrille decided to up sticks and take over from him, leaving the table topping but ageing, AntiChrists managerless.
Naturally, when one of the game’s top teams becomes available a lot of managers start getting itchy feet. This was definitely the case wiith The AntiChrists vacancy as a host of high ranked managers put their names forward for the job.
V1klund93 won the race and now looks set to add another Hattrick title to the already swelling Antichrists trophy cabinet. His move left current Hattrick league champions The Corleone Family without a manager. Again, numerous managers got itchy feet and decided to apply for the job. The question on everyone’s lips was “Which of the top managers will get the job?”
With almost 30 candidates for the post, the Corleone Family board had plenty of choice, but V1klund’s successor, who they revealed earlier this week, was not one of the game's big names, he was a 5th Division manager from the Xpert League known as...
... RSole (Don't laugh)
“Who is this RSole?” everyone asked, trying not to giggle.
The man in the spotlight agreed to be interviewed by Sports Correspondent Ria Porter so that everyone could find out a bit more about him.
Ria: You’ve just taken over one of the biggest club’s in the Hattrick League, if not X11, how do you feel?
RSole: Scared…. Yep, definitely scared.
Ria: How long have you been in the game?
RSole: Well, I joined in 2008, so 7 years.
Ria: Have you achieved anything in that time?
RSole: That depends on what the measure of achievement is.
Ria: High ranking, trophies, that sort of stuff.
RSole: Well, my top rank is 46th and I had a couple of brief spells as Scotland’s No. 1. I’ve got one of those white star MoTW award thingy’s too. That’s quite nice… it brightens up my profile page a bit, makes it quite Christmassy don’t you think?
Ria: I suppose it does. Any trophies?
RSole: Not many, certainly none from the official leagues. I recently won a league and cup double in the IW Premier League to claim my first ever silverware in the game.
Ria: So, if you don’t mind me saying so, you don’t really have the qualifications to manage the type of team you’re now in charge of?
RSole: I wasn’t aware there’s an X11 qualification. Is it a degree? Which Universities offer the course? I’d certainly be interested in doing it and let’s face it, it would probably be a more valuable degree than some of those on offer these days!
Ria: Haha, quite the comedian aren’t you… Why did you decide to take the job?
RSole: Quite simple: I had a gun pointing at my head!
Ria: No other reason then? Did you think you’d have a better chance of winning trophies and increasing your rank?
RSole: Well, I've been in the game for quite a few years now and over that time I have pondered many things... the meaning of life... why, despite the cost of living, does it remain popular... is it easier to achieve a high X11 rank with a top team than a lower league one... you know, those sort of life changing questions. So my motivation wasn’t really trophies; they don’t really bother me too much, although I wouldn’t say no to them if they came along. Rank is really the reason: my rank had been languishing around the 2,000 mark, but shot up to around 500 in the last couple of months, I assume because of a good run of results in the last couple of seasons with my previous team, Brunei. I wanted to see just how high my rank could get if I was the manager of a team that was good enough to reach the latter stages of a cup so when The Corleone Family job came up I figured they would be the perfect team to find out. Not that I’m a rank whor… lady of the night; I just wanted to find out if that's the key to a high rank.
Ria: So what are your initial of your new team and what plans have you got for it?
RSole: Well, this is a good team and it's capable of challenging for silverware for another 3 or 4 seasons with the players the club has just now. I'm going to try to introduce some younger players over the next few seasons and try to add a bit of longevity to the team. I want it to remain competitive and challenge for silverware over an extended period of time, so I've got a very tough job on my hands.
Ria: And if you don't achieve your goals?
RSole: I’ll resort to Plan B, which I will create if Plan A doesn’t come off.
So there you have it, a brief insight into this nobody who has landed one of the top jobs in the Hattrick League.
