Ladies and gentlemen of the class of '2014
Wear sunscreen
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, training would be it,
the long-term benefits of training have been proved by scientists.
Whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.
I will dispense this advice now:
The Beautiful game
Enjoy the power and beauty of the 17/4 youth, oh, never mind
you will not understand the power and beauty of 17/4 youth
until they've faded but trust me, in 5 years, you'll look back
at images of your 17/4 players and recall in a way you can't grasp now of
how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous they really looked.
You are not that bad a manager as you'd imagined
Don't worry about the future,
or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, like, was that really an offside at 4pm CET on match-day last Tuesday.
Every once in a while set tactics in a way that scares you.
Bruise
Don't be reckless with other people's players.
Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Train
Don't waste your time on jealousy about the YA.
Invest 300k you're ahead, invest 0 you're behind.
The race is long and in the end, it's only with yourself.
Remember compliments you receive, forget the insults, if you succeed in doing this, tell me how..
Keep your old event mails, throw away your old recommended player mails.
Re-hab
Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your xpert team.
The most interesting people I know didn't know what they wanted to do with their xpert teams either.
Some of the most interesting people I know still don't.
Get plenty of offline time.
Be kind to your older high skilled players.
You'll miss them when they're gone.
Maybe you'll win, maybe you won't.
Maybe you'll have a 16/6, maybe you won't.
Maybe you'll win the cup and dance the 'Funky Chicken' around your living room.
Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either.
Your tactical choices are half chance, so are everybody else's.
Understand that as an admin users come and go,
but for the precious few loyal ones you should hold more respect for them.
Transfer
Accept certain inalienable truths,
player prices will rise, INJURIES WILL HAPPEN, you, too, will get old
and when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young
prices were reasonable, players got slightly injured
and children respected their elders.
Respect the SYSTEM
Be careful which agents advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it.
Going off on one about red cross injuries will serve no purpose,
there is more than just you playing the this game
ranting will only make you bitter
But trust me on the sunscreen!!
Team news
Today we won against FC Miudos Da Bola and this took us into second place in the league, don't get too excited though, there are very few points between a few teams and it looks like a real cat fight for the rest of the season. Luckily with only one match a week we don't have to spend as much on training as we manage on the tiniest of budgets.
We play against Konky's boys (Johnstone Wildcats) next week and they are on fire at the moment, plus we have to play them on their own turf so the odds are in their favour, we won't make it easy for the wildcats though, our claws are out too ;)
