| 3 years to glory |
Well 3 years and 5 days to be exact. That was the day I took over a young and perspective team in division 7. Six players that walked the field on sunday also played that first game 11 seasons ago. It was a long way up, but it was well worth it. Only two times we missed the promotion in those seasons. Once we finally made it to the top division, once we got the chance to play with the big boys, the team became relatively old, so I knew we had only one chance, only one shot to try end win the league and the place in Master league history. And that one shot was all we needed. Strategy was simple: to exit from the cup as soon as possible and concentrate on the championship.
Even though it didn’t start good, we lost at Assault on Dark Athena 1-0 in the first round, we weren’t discouraged. Performance was good, and it was a very unlucky loss from a late free kick. As it turned out, that was our only loss in the season.
We were by no means the favorites, but we were consistent throughout the entire season. Chelsea had unexplainably poor season, Angels had a slow start, and with Athena going all the way in the cup and suffering from fatigue and injuries we had everything set our way.
Now, guys will get few days to celebrate this huge success, and then we will start with the changes. Even before this season I knew this was the last dance for this team. We need fresh blood and with extra games in XCL this is the best time to bring that blood. Many Giants will leave Suburbia and make place for new kids who will one day bring this team back to the top, and win the league again. Maybe in 3 years and 5 days.
